The Songsters Music





The Songsters were organized in 1995 and have sung continuously since then. They sing songs and hymns “Southern Gospel” style, and enjoy singing traditional gospel music and hymn arrangements. All of the members have had many years experience singing and playing in the Southern Gospel Music field.

The primary goal of the Songsters is “to serve the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by lifting  up His name through song, personal witness, and prayer”. They strive to be a blessing to someone each day.

Headquarters for the Songsters is Gastonia located in Gaston County, NC, about twenty miles west of Charlotte, NC and just a few miles north of the South Carolina state line. Here, they annually host, The Spencer Mountain Outdoor Gospel Song Festival, which is the oldest and largest outside singing held in Gaston County. In addition, they sponsor their Anniversary Concert, a Salute To Mothers’ Concert, a Memorial Day Tribute Singing, which honors all fallen and living members of our Armed Services, A Fathers’ Day Concert and a New Year’s Eve “Singspiration” A Christian Celebration of the New Year! Throughout the year, they help with the organization of other concerts in the surrounding area and have appeared with such artists as the Kingsmen Quartet, The Steeles, the Crabb Family, New Millennium Quartet, the Florida Boys, the Nelons, Michael Combs, the Reggie Saddler Family, the Cockman Family, Melody Trio, the Greenes, the Perrys, the Toney Brothers, Melody Masters, Safe Harbor, the Telestials, the Traver’rs, Pine Ridge Boys and others. They also sing for a number of charitable organizations and benefits.

Jack Kimbro sings baritone and is manager of the Songsters. He and his wife, Beverlys, reside in Gastonia, NC, near Crowder’s Mountain State Park. Jack, who also serves as “emcee” for the group, sang formerly with the Kensmen Quarter, The Journeymen Quartet and The Songmasters. He is the Gospel Music columnist for the Gaston Gazette and the Shelby Daily Star newspapers.

Don Costner is the lead singer for the Songsters. He and his wife, Jan are residents of Dallas, NC Don known for his clear strong lead vocals, sang many years with the Costner Family, The Costner Quartet and the Chord Weavers, He serves as the group’s Treasurer.
